The mosquitos were out in full force, but I had a great time with the Miller Family before Ryan, Haley, and Samuel move to Minnesota in a few weeks.
Jerry and Chat celebrated their 25th Anniversary with renewing their vows at Christ the King Cathedral, and then followed with a reception at the Overton Hotel and Conference Center. I know Jerry from my local USPSA shooting club, so when he called me to ask if I was available for a shoot on Sunday evening, I thought he meant at the shooting range, with guns not cameras!
Toby and I had the opportunity this last weekend to accompany my wife and her group of student leaders on their yearly leadership retreat. This year we travelled Lone Tree Bible Ranch in the mountains just outside of Capitan, New Mexico. It was a great facility with great food and lots of fun activities. The weather was incredible, a very welcome break form the 40-50 mph dust storms in Lubbock the few days prior to leaving. Knowing that we were going to be in a place away from city light pollution I also tried my hand at photographing the Milky Way for the first time. It's still a little early in the year to get a good shot of the galactic center, but I'm pretty pleased with how they turned out.

Crossfit has been a big part of my brother and sister in law's lives for a few years now. It's something they're constantly talking about, so I knew that the 2017 Crossfit Open had started. I wanted to get some experience shooting indoor sports action, so I reached out to their gym, Crossfit Paladin, to see if they would let me swing by the next workout. I had a really great time and got several shots I'm very pleased with. Here is a selection of some of my favorites. The full 200+ image Gallery can be viewed by clicking on the link below
